A leased range can show your description and your abuse contact in the RIPE Database, under your own maintainer. On IP4 Market you register that yourself. Very few providers let a lessee do it — here is how.

What “registering your usage” means
When you register your usage you create a sub-assignment: a more-specific record in the RIPE Database that states who uses the space, with your description and — through your organisation — your abuse contact. It is authorised by the mnt-lower we delegate to your maintainer when you lease the range.

In plain terms: your name, your description and your abuse contact on your space, published by you.
Before you start
- Your lease is active.
- You have set up your RIPE details — especially your Organisation ID.
- You have added your RIPE credential (the same one used for route objects).
Set your organisation first. Abuse handling is published through your RIPE organisation. If your Organisation ID is empty in Company Settings, the sub-assignment will carry your description but no abuse contact. Set it once and you are done.
Step by step
Go to My Leases and open the lease for your range.
Click Register my use in RIPE (description & abuse).
Enter your credential, the range you are registering (start and end IP), a netname and description, the country, and your admin and tech contacts.
Submit. The sub-assignment is created under your maintainer, referencing your organisation — so your abuse contact travels with it.
Why it is worth doing. Clean, accurate registration means abuse reports reach the right people, geolocation providers see who runs the space, and your ranges look properly maintained — which helps their reputation and deliverability.
What you cannot change (by design)
The parent allocation object stays under our maintainer, so it cannot be altered or transferred by accident. You register your usage underneath it — the correct, safe way in RIPE.
